Fusion proteins of prokaryotic origin

Gene fusion is a phenomenon that has generated much curiosity since its description. Human fusion proteins are found to mimic operons and protein-protein interfaces in prokaryotes. They are also found to exhibit multiple functions and alternative splicing. Here we provide a comprehensive list of fusion proteins of prokaryotic origin in the human genome.
